This past week has been an absolute whirlwind for Integrity Insurance Services. We have been featured on our very first guest blog spot, we have hit a major client milestone within our agency, and we were featured on the news as a “success story”. A success story?
Holy smokes… this is really happening.
Friday of last week I received a call around 2:30 pm (while I was still in my workout gear mind you) that I was recommended to be featured on a segment for KOLD News about local business start ups turned success stories. The story was to feature a few local business owners who beat the odds and grew in their business. In turn helped Tucson’s local economy.
What happened next was better than any phone call I could have imagined getting. I looked up in my rear view mirror and saw my daughter’s faces when not only they had heard I had been asked to be on the news but that in about 2 hours it would be happening out of our house.
After the three of us screamed and jumped around, then… panic mode set in.
They were coming to my house. MY HOUSE. A house that “houses” my 6 family members, my home office, a sink full of dishes, and enough toys to supply a new local toy store. What the heck was I supposed to do? Oh and how could I have forgotten…. I was in my gym clothes!!!!!!
That’s when I realized how loved I was.
My oldest daughter Lexi said we will take care of the house… but YOU NEED TO SHOWER. Allie followed that up with… yeah Mom you really need to shower. So after texting my girlfriends and all jumping around together via text message, the race was on to get “get it together”. I don’t know how, but I did. The news crew came and went without any indication that they knew I was freaking out inside with nervousness (and that in the rush I may or may not have totally forgotten to put on deodorant), but it was an experience I will never forget.
I went immediately back into work mode, rushed off to meet a client and get their new policies taken care of without even getting to absorb what had just happened. In that time I was meeting with a client and heading home my newscast had already aired at 9 pm and we would be awaiting another at 10 pm.
What I walked into when I got home changed the entire way I looked at what had just happened that day.
This didn’t just happen to me. This amazing leap for my business happened to my entire family. My mom… likely texted everyone she knew , like the proud mommy she is. My sister took pictures of me on TV with her phone so I could see while I was finishing up with my client. My husband who had this smile of pride on his face like I had never seen before as he was fighting back emotion (he won’t admit this ever… but I saw it.) that his wife was on TV. However, nothing compared to walking in and seeing my girls faces when they had me paused on the TV screen just waiting for me to get home.
They were proud of me. MY KIDS!
My mom being on the news was awesome! It was so exciting and made me and my sister Lexi, she thinks she is a celebrity, really proud. She has worked really hard. TV people came to our house! Some other things I thought were cool was they saw our whole house, where we live, our living space! People from the news! My mom got to wear a microphone that you couldn’t even see and they wanted to know about her and her business. It was so cool! They said they thought she was one of the business’s that could pull Tucson out of a slump we are in with something about money. AWESOME! It was such a cool experience and we got to watch the whole thing live! My mom always shows us that if we work really hard and want it bad enough that anything can happen. I am so proud of her.- Allie 11 years old
What a humbling moment that was. We watched the newscast probably 20 times… I had a couple glasses of wine (when I say a couple I possibly mean I shared a bottle with my husband), and we just stared at each other in awe over this dream of mine adapting into something so brilliant that it is at times hard to take in.
However… no matter what happened to my business that day… nothing compared to my kids faces as they proudly video recorded the live version of the TV interview, told their friends, and said WOW my mom was on the News (in a non-creepy kind of way of course).
In their eyes… I was a celebrity. Their celebrity.
This week my mom was on the News!!! It was amazing. I’m so proud of her. I do think she is a celebrity and not because she was on the news , but because she works so, so , so hard to be the best at what she does. She help’s others with their business’s at our house too! Isn’t that neat. She doesn’t do it to make herself look good. No matter what you can depend on her. She made her own dreams come true. I want to do that too. I will never forget this! – Lexi Nutting 11 years old
I have been an insurance agent for 10 years and never in my life have I been more excited and proud of something professionally that I have done than showing my kids this is what it’s all about. The next steps. The continued want for achievement in our personal and professional lives. Integrity Insurance Services not only has changed my life but it has changed my families lives.
